Kinja'd!!!

Came across it in my semi monthly search for 4 speed, V8, 2nd gen Camaros. Not a Camaro here, but a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I think.

Hard to get behind some of the choices made here, but most are fixable for fairly cheap.

Anyhow, I'm not in the market, but thoughts?

NP if it stays under 6k$ and there's no rust. Great cruiser/drag car, only a t-56 and suspension bits away from a clean autocross monster.

Kind of what I was thinking: fun cruiser car. I've seen one or two at the strip, also, and they are a bit bonkers because they are so small. Hadn't considered auto-x, but yeah—that would be cool.

"Georgia will not issue a title for a car of this age" Google searched it. Interesting that you don't need a title for anything older than 1985

Interesting. Used to live in GA, but haven't heard of that. What are the legitimate reasons for not being able to title a car? No VIN probably... Does age count?

I don't know but it sounds so fishy, there's no guarantee of free and clear title to the car, seems like you would be taking unnecessary risks.

I always LOVED the idea of a V8 Vega. This is totally something I've always wanted to do, and it's near the top of my list of projects if I ever win the lottery and build a real garage and stock it with real tools. From talking with a few guys who have had them, though, it seems that subframe connectors are an absolute necessity if you ever plan on cracking the throttle more than halfway... otherwise, from what I've been told, it won't be long before you notice the doors don't close right anymore and you can't get a successful 4-wheel alignment.

(Heck, I've always thought a Vega with a built-up Buick 3.8 V6 or a Vortec 4300 V6 would be a great car to take out and hunt Hondas with fart cans...)

It's a Vega; run. The thin unibody flexed with the original 4 banger. With a SB Chevy it will flex until it snaps. I had two friends with Vegas in the 70's, one with the original 4 one with a SB swap, neither had a good experience. I say CP.

I agree. I live in Georgia and that sounds fishy. Of course it looks like they live in GA too and it's on the GA Craigslist so he wouldn't be expecting to necessarily sell it out of state. I am sure there is more to the story, but I suppose it could be legit. I still say run.

(edit, oops, ebay ...)

I would like to find one that hasn't had the conversion done.

its just the way that some states do things. My bro just bought a 76' F100 in Athens and we drove it back to MA. Ma does require a title on everything. We just needed the Bill of sale and a copy of the last reg and it worked out fine.

Yeah. Maybe depends on what you want it for. If you are gonna trailer it less of a deal. Does seem like the seller it fairly forthcoming about niggles in the ad's pictures.

Seeing this comment now. Good to know. I appreciate the knowledge on Oppo. Hey, just curious, what did you have when they had the Vegas?

'69 Firebird with a 350. It had a lot of potential, but I wrecked it before I made much out of it.

I drove a '75 Pinto wagon before and after it. I can't recommend that either, although I did get a lot of miles out it.

I always thought the Vega looked a lot better than the Pinto. They both were rushed to market in the face of the early 70's fuel crunch. Ford and GM worked very hard to take cost out to make them affordable, but the quality suffered. It's not much cheaper to make a small car then a big car, they end up having about the same number of parts and therefore the same number of assembly steps.

Well it was my first time on a plane, my first time out of New England in 12 years, we bought a $3000 40 year old pick up truck and cannonballed it roadkill style the entire east coast from Athens to Boston in a day and a half through an ice storm and a blizzard. To say it was a cool trip would be a dramatic understatement. It was something I will never forget and I cant wait for the opportunity to do something like that again.
